BIM / VDC Coordinator II

Job Summary

The BIM/VDC Coordinator II will take charge of BIM/VDC operations across all projects, ensuring seamless coordination with clients and sub-consultants to meet BIM/VDC standards. This role will collaborate closely with Dennis Group project discipline leads and the BIM Manager to drive internal BIM/VDC standardization efforts. Projects will include both existing building renovations and new construction, requiring documentation for various disciplines such as Architecture, Electrical, Fire Protection, HVAC, Piping (Mechanical, Process, Plumbing), and Structural. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for BIM/VDC innovations and emerging technologies within the AEC industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform BIM/VDC responsibilities for the team across all projects, ensuring coordination with clients and sub-consultants to meet BIM/VDC standards.
  • Contribute to the development of BIM Execution Plan (BEP) strategies and lead client interactions with support from the BIM/VDC Manager.
  • Support the BIM/VDC Manager in training design personnel on BIM/VDC tools and processes.
  • Setup, manage, and maintain digital delivery platforms, project models, and associated documentation.
  • Collaborate with BIM/VDC Leadership to evaluate BIM modeling proficiency within project teams, including trade partners and external design collaborators.
  • Work with the BIM/VDC Project Engineer to facilitate multidisciplinary model coordination and clash detection throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the training, implementation, and support of BIM/VDC tools and processes for the project team.
  • Collaborate with project teams to determine appropriate drawing scales, sheet layouts, and establish building breakdowns and match lines for floor plans where applicable.
  • Monitor and audit compliance with project BIM/VDC standards.
  • Support the project team in identifying conflicts and resolving incomplete or ambiguous design deliverables.
  • Assist the project team in converting vendor equipment into Revit models.
  • Aid in the assembly, review, and transmittal of drawing packages for issue releases.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers and clients.
  • Participate in BIM/VDC-related webinars and conferences to stay informed and share opportunities for technological innovation within the organization.

Required Education Skills and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or completion of a Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of experience in an EPC firm or equivalent experience in the construction industry.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to construction project sites.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other design authoring platforms is required
  • Advanced knowledge of contractual delivery methods for design and construction projects
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand project deliverables (plans, specifications, etc.)
  • Knowledge of supporting BIM/VDC productivity tools (Revit add-ins, Dynamo, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Experience with 3D collaboration processes and tools (BIM360/ACC suite, Assemble, clash tracking, laser scanning, model-based point layout, AR/VR)
  • Knowledge of industry standard BIM/VDC documentation (BEP, BIMForum, etc.)
  • Demonstrates good organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus
  • Industry BIM/VDC certification is preferred (Revit Certified Professional, CM-BIM, etc.)
  • Understanding of building design and construction sequencing is preferred
  • Experience with providing clash reports and clash resolution guidance for the project team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel Requirement

  • Travel Requirement – Occasional travel to construction project sites, Dennis Group offices, etc., with annual travel requirement of up to 15% of the year.
